Danger from laboratory refrigerators
BG Chemie warns against storage of flammable samples
In many laboratories, samples that need to be cooled are stored and are also flammable. Conventional laboratory refrigerators are often used for this purpose, which can easily develop into an unpredictable source of danger. Unprotected against external thermal influences, they pose a risk to employees, work materials and infrastructure in the event of a fire.
Consequently, BG Chemie points out that commercially available laboratory refrigerators do not constitute storage facilities for flammable liquids. The intended purpose is only to keep educts (flammable liquids) ready during the work process or to carry out experimental procedures (crystallization of products).
