Quality testing

Problem

Employees of a medium-sized laboratory spent a lot of time searching for the availability of the specific chemical each of them needed. Only after locating the required chemical could it be determined, by the applied labeling, whether the purity of the chemical was fundamentally within the permissible tolerances.

Ziel

Optimize the availability search and purity testing of a chemical, with the aim of reducing time-consuming, non-value-adding activities and thereby providing relief for employees.

Lösung

DC Inventory Management | Package Team

Initial master data maintenance of stock inventories of, among others, chemicals including quantity information, chemical and physical properties in the browser-based, installation-free DC Inventory Management Package Team for a total of 6 users (employees).

After entering the inventories, they are labeled for identification with QR codes on tamper-proof labels. The appropriate label templates are available to the printer via an API interface. The printer communicates via the cloud with DC's software.

THE RESULT? A NEW WORKFLOW!

Instead of a manual search, the required chemical is now being looked up in the team package by DC warehouse management.

The search result shows, among other things, the location / storage location, quantity and purity of a required chemical — eliminating long on-site searches.

At the storage location, the chemical is checked out indicating the new place of use, simply by scanning with a tablet the QR code attached to the container.

The chemical's purity specifications are checked with a refractometer and the measured values are compared with the in-stock details automatically reconciled in the system.

If the result is positive, the chemical will be used. Subsequently, an in- and return weighing will be carried out for the unused remaining quantity. If the result is negative, the chemical will be disposed of and removed from DÜPERTHAL connect.

The remaining quantity of the chemical is, via inventory management by DÜPERTHAL connect, checked in again.

During the check-in process, the device used for the incoming and return scale automatically transmits via API (interface) the difference of the withdrawn amount. This is usually confirmed, but can optionally be overridden by manual entry.

The laboratory staff can now use their time for more value-added activities and are significantly relieved by the inventory management of DÜPERTHAL connect.
